Chef Michael and Jeanne Sigler have been feeding people for over twenty years. Involved with the Wiregrass Area Food Bank in Dothan, Alabama, the Siglers helped to feed the needy, as well as get the word out about hunger in our communities.
For five years, Chef Michael was seen as the Food Bank Chef on WDHN Channel 18 on Wednesday mornings on the news program. He also wrote a restaurant critic column "Bon Appetit!" every Wednesday in the Lifestyle Section of the Dothan Eagle, which also appeared on the world wide web.
Currently, the Siglers are feature writers for Dothan Magazine, where Michael also critiques restaurants and organizes the dining guide.
In January, 2003, his cookbook "My Life in a Frying Pan" was released. Michael is the President and founder of the Association of Culinary Professionals - Wiregrass Chapter, and is past Chef of the Year for 2000 for the American Culinary Federation where he served for five years.
The Siglers were featured in the October 2005 issue of Southern Living Magazine in the Alabama People & Places Section in an article entitled: Cooking & Caring.
In the near future, the Siglers will launch their own weekly hour-long television cooking program also entitled Together in the Frying Pan.
Michael and Jeanne gain much of their cooking experiences through their benevolence work as missionaries to foreign countries, as well as within the USA. They helped to pioneer numerous feeding and nutrition programs, particularly during the years they spent residing in Great Britain.
Their desire to help people, as well as their love of the culinary arts have taken them to 27 countries around the globe gathering recipes and cooking techniques, and making relationships. They've helped to feed as well as educate thousands of needy individuals. Locally, they taught Hunger 101 classes to school children, and organized various food drives, as well as working alongside the Red Cross with Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.
They have been frequent guests on Troy University Public Radios Community Focus and the Spring and Fall Friendraisers. Tastebuddies, heard on Saturdays at 11:55 am (following Weekend Radio), has been a popular feature for the Siglers on Troy University Public Radio. They look forward to a long, lasting relationship together.
